How important are the Ten Commandments? Is this moral law of God even still in force today? Is it binding on men at all? Many churches argue that it’s an Old Testament Jewish law and not applicable to New Testament Christians. Is that really true?

According to Scripture, God’s law is used by the Spirit to expose our sin and draw us unto God Himself. Without it, we will never know the depths of our sin and our great need for Christ because sin blinds us to the truth. How very grievous it would be to never come to know our need for a Savior! But the law of God is not only His light to expose sin; it is also His rule to guide a Christian’s daily conduct. And as Christ Himself walked blamelessly before the Father, we as Christians must strive to love and honor Him, giving thanks through our obedience to His will in the Commandments. The Lord was pleased, for His righteousness’ sake, to magnify His law and make it glorious. (Isa. 42:21) The Commandments are “the first thing in Christianity which the natural man needs to be taught and they should be the daily concerns of the Christian to the last.”

Join us February 7th for our Sunday Afternoon Bible Study as Pastor La Belle begins an in-depth study on God’s Law using Thomas Watson’s, Ten Commandments. Pastor La Belle will examine the Law of God as a whole, consider its role in the Christian’s life, and bring out the meaning and force of each Commandment, both as to what it commands and what it forbids. Come and learn what it means to walk in a manner pleasing to the Lord our God (Col. 1:10).

We welcome all who would like to join us!
